Sponsor A Student

We rely on private sponsorships and donations for the education and well-being of our young people. We receive no outside help other than this. There are still children at The Garden in need of sponsors either for education, care or both.  You can help!

We have divided the sponsorship for each child into 2: one package for school fees and educational needs, and the other for general care and well-being at The Garden.

Please note:

  1. We have recently increased the cost of the packages, which had remained the same since 2014, in line with the annual inflation rate in Nepal of 6-9 %.
  2. Even with 2 sponsorship packages for each child, we are still not able to meet our current running costs, and are also seeking sponsorship of The Garden generally, as it serves many others apart from our resident children and is the base for our projects, training courses and health camps.  (see The Garden Project)   We have capped the cost of the care and welfare package to make it affordable for individual sponsors.

Educational Support for a child: USD 100 per month / USD 1,200 per annum

This helps with school fees at an English medium school, school books, stationery and school supplies, uniform, extra tuition (before exams), school trips, extracurricular activities, and any other school related expenses.

Care and Welfare for a child: USD 120 per month / USD 1,440 per annum

This helps with all other costs: food, accommodation, clothing and grooming, medical, dental and optical checks and treatment, birthdays, celebrations and festivals.

Payment can be made on a monthly basis, twice yearly or yearly. The commitment should be for a minimum of 2 years.

What We Can Offer You

Firstly, we can give you the assurance that your money is being used for exactly the purposes we have described above. The only salaried member of our staff is our house mother. Our house manager and chairman of the NGO Sansar Nepal, himself a former sponsor child, receives only his own board and lodging and expenses for the valuable work he performs. Our board members are young Nepalis, some of them also former sponsor children, who wish to give something back and be agents of change in their country. Our International Advisors are all unpaid volunteers. We are happy to give you a detailed breakdown of where your money goes upon request.

We will also give you regular updates on the progress of the children, and all new developments in our home and organisation. A newsletter is sent out twice a year.  If you would like a personal connection with your sponsor child, which we certainly encourage, we will act as intermediaries, so that you can get to know each other via email and Skype. We invite you to send photos of yourself and your family, and we have a mailing address should you wish to send a small birthday gift or a communal gift for the children.

Finally, you are most welcome to come and stay with us at The Garden and meet your child in person.

If you feel you would like to sponsor a child and would like to know what our current needs are, please get in touch.

Thank you.
